Hello! My name is Kerrie and I love being a Family Day Care Educator.
My Family Day Care is a happy and fun place that provides quality child care and lots of opportunities for play and learning. It is a special place where children and their families are welcome.
I am a qualified Early Childhood Educator with more than a decade of experience caring for many children from babies to toddlers and pre-schoolers. Learning programs and play experiences
at Little Friends & Me help children acquire skills for life and prepare them for 'big school'.

PROGRAMS & PLAY
What's important at Little Friends & Me
LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
Children learn most through meaningful play so there will be lots of opportunities during the day for open-ended learning and playtime. Thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor play spaces will provide children with opportunities to explore, create and be curious.
HEALTH & WELLBEING
Your child's wellbeing is my focus. I will provide a safe and protected environment for your child. There will be healthy and nutritious food and drinks, playtime to keep busy and happy, along with rest times and physical activities. We will follow good health and hygiene practices (washing our hands) and ensure we are sunsmart (wearing sunscreen and sunhats). A sense of belonging, friendships, a caring, kind spirit and good manners will all be encouraged at Little Friends & Me.
DAILY ROUTINES
There will be a daily routine that allows for play, meal times and sleep and rest times for the children. Routines allow children to feel reassured in an unfamiliar environment and help the day run smoothly. Of course flexibility will be key. Not everything can run according to plan!
EDUCATION PROGRAMS
Free play will be balanced with planned/intentional teaching sessions and lots of Child/Educator interactions to enrich children's play and learning experiences throughout each day. Education programs will follow the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and will also be inspired and guided by the interests and ideas of the children.
COMMUNICATION & COLLABORATION
Family Day Care provides unique opportunities for personalised care and Educator/Parent collaboration. Together we can provide your child with the best learning and developmental outcomes. The EYLF (Early Years Learning Framework) encourages parent involvement in the learning programs so developing strong relationships with families will be a priority. This can be achieved through open and honest communications. Personal conversations at drop off and pick up, assessments and evaluations will communicate your child’s learning outcomes and progress toward learning goals. Daily activities will be communicated via direct SMS messages including lots of photos showing how your child played and what activities engaged them. There will also be emails and e-Newsletters to keep you informed.
SCHOOL READINESS PROGRAMS
Learning programs and play experiences at Little Friends & Me allow children to develop the important skills they need for life and for ‘big school’ in our nurturing family day care setting.
While attending Little Friends & Me, children will grow in confidence and independence. Children will develop positive social skills, self help skills, emotional regulation and gain practical experience with routines. These are the skills needed for 'School Readiness'.
I believe preparing for ‘big school’ does not only start the one or two years before school. At Little Friends & Me children are developing all these skills from a young age through all the wonderful play experiences they enjoy each and every day.
As children reach 3-4 years of age I support them to expand these skills in preparation for the best possible transition to ‘big school’.
My learning programs follow the interests and developmental stage of each child and therefore learning programs evolve to meet the needs of your growing child.
PLAY = LEARNING
At Little Friends & Me our play evolves in such a wonderful way throughout the day. The children follow and extend on their own interests with enthusiasm, energy and concentration. These photos show the variety of play we enjoy in our days.
Play is how young children learn.
Through play, children develop the skills they need to expand their physical, emotional, social, and cognitive abilities.

NORTHERN BEACHES COUNCIL FAMILY DAY CARE
Northern Beaches Council Family Day Care has been providing families with care since 1976, and have been rated as Exceeding the National Quality Standards. They have the most wonderful Service Philosophy and I am proud to be one of their Family Day Care Educators. The Co-ordination Unit will provide Little Friends & Me with ongoing support and resources. They will also ensure my compliance with all relevant laws and regulations under the National Quality Framework.
